Practice Nurse

£22,459 - £26,111   | Full Time  | Shelton Lock

Shelton Lock is a busy first opinion practice, which also incorporates Blue Cross charity work and training students from Nottingham vet school.

It is a modern, well equipped practice with theatre, imaging and lab facilities, as well as two bright and spacious consulting rooms and separate dog and cat wards. There is a groomer on site, and a well-stocked retail area.

We retain a family feel to our sites, and we very much want you to be part of our family.

The team

Shelton Lock is an established Practice with a small, friendly team. You will be supported by a kennel assistant, as well as an experienced CCA team and vet.

Working alongside Nottingham vet school you will have a rotation of vet students and tutors from the vet school, and be able to support them and pass on your skills.

As a business we take pride in providing outstanding pet healthcare and this role of veterinary nurse enables us to do this at a local level in the community.

Your role

This is a unique role, combining first opinion and charity work, and training elements.

You will be involved in all theatre and imaging work, anaesthetics, nurse clinics and general stock/maintenance/promotion of the practice. We anticipate that your individual clinical knowledge will improve steadily. Our CPD allowance is generous and actively promoted.

This is a full-time role of 41 hours per week working between the opening hours of 8.30am at the earliest start to 7pm as the latest finish. There is also one Saturday morning to work in every three to four weeks.

We would welcome applicants for this veterinary nurse position who want to bring their interests into the practice and breathe some fresh air and energy into developing nurse clinics.

Any OOH work will be covered by our hospital site at Pride Park and this is where your internal training is likely to be held, where we have the UK’s most innovative veterinary equipment.
