Assistant Operations Manager

Up to 30k  | Full Time  | Pride Veterinary Centre – Derby

Pride Veterinary Centre is the central small animal hospital for the Scarsdale Veterinary Group, a multi-species practice employing over 300 staff across 11 sites in the Midlands. At Pride we offer specialist services in anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, neurology, ophthalmology, cardiology and dermatology and on-site hydro- and physiotherapy. The state-of-the-art hospital provides 24/7 veterinary care, supported by a dedicated night team. We work closely with the University of Nottingham, with the veterinary students rotating through first opinion and referral services at Pride Veterinary Centre.

The team

There are over 60 people in the Referral Team covering the full range of disciplines and the role of Assistant Operations Manager will liaise with the majority of these on a regular basis, plus have team leading responsibilities for seven. There are many specialisms within the team but all process and procedures can be mapped in a similar way to ensure the smooth running of the business at optimum profitability.

Your role

The role purpose for the Assistant Operations Manager is to optimise the financial and reputational performance of Pride Veterinary Centre Referrals by identifying and resolving weak points in the business, including improved processes and ownership for charging and payment related issues for clients.

We are therefore seeking an individual who has a strong understanding of the veterinary referral business, has skills in technical change, resource management, business data analysis and team leading.

Working closely with the referral team of surgeons, nurses and management the expectation is for issues in process, equipment, facilities and resources to be identified and business proposals developed to improve performance.

Regular review meetings with veterinary practices who refer to Pride Veterinary Centre will be an integral responsibility of this role so natural skills in influencing and customer care would be advantageous.

There will be some team leading elements involving the two referral secretaries and the five in the physio/hydro team.
